On Tuesday, November 17, the Dream Chasers experienced one of their most delicious activities yet by visiting Ruth’s Chris Steak House in downtown Indianapolis. Besides enjoying an amazing meal, the goal of the evening was for the students to learn about proper etiquette in a restaurant setting.
Prior to their visit to the restaurant, the Dream Chasers attended a Life Skills lesson on appropriate etiquette and table manners from skilled instructors. The students were also instructed on proper behavior while dining at in a restaurant.
Once at the restaurant, the Dream Chasers put the lessons they learned to the test. According to the students, they learned how to "cut a steak, how to set up silverware, and how to do a lot of stuff." Some of the other "stuff" included, learning how to pass food to others, how to treat other individuals at the dinner table, and how "not to eat with elbows on the table." Joining them at dinner were their instructors so everyone worked very hard to impress them, even pulling out chairs for the ladies to sit at the table.
While the experience of fine dining was impressive, for most students, the food was the most exciting part of the evening. Upon arrival at Ruth’s Chris, the students were presented with a special menu that included several meal options. Most students chose to eat the rib eye steak and according to some students, "it was exquisite." Following the main course, the Dream Chasers were given cheesecake for dessert, which was another aspect of the meal that the students enjoyed.
Some other comments from the students included, "I did not want to stop eating" and "the food was really good." According to the students, the staff at Ruth’s Chris Steak House was "very helpful and nice." It was clear that the students had an enjoyable time. However, along with eating a delicious meal, the students understood the importance of learning about etiquette.

The Foundation looks forward to continuing to grant the Dream Chasers with unique experiences to develop their skills inside and outside of the classroom.
